ATHENS, Greece – Mar 15, 2017
Sky Express, a prominent airline operating one of the largest domestic flight network in Greece, is embarking on a new phase of its expansion plans, focusing on diversifying its reach to additional revenue streams and servicing a broader customer base. The airline will reach the travel agency channel through an exclusive new relationship with global travel technology leader Sabre Corporation (NASDAQ: SABR), which operates one of the world’s largest travel marketplaces, connecting airlines with travel agencies.
Using Sabre, the airline will have access to a set of software solutions and capabilities that will be critical to improving the way the airline markets and sells its fares, automates commercial processes, and manages electronic ticketing across sales channels. With access in the Sabre travel marketplace, Sabre connected travel agencies in Greece will have the ability to sell Sky Express tickets to travellers. In addition, millions of online shoppers searching on multiple online travel sites that Sabre supports will for the first time be able to compare and purchase Sky Express flights and fares.
“This is a landmark and unique agreement that aims to expand revenue opportunities and enhance customer service for Sky Express and our broad travel agency community, bringing their air fares to our leading booking platform while helping the airline to initiate a rapid transformation of their commercial operations leveraging the latest air-commerce capabilities developed by Sabre,” said Andreas Syrigos, country director of Sabre in Greece.
“We are looking forward to expand our reach to new channels and work with travel agencies as strategic partners to offer our value proposition to millions of travellers,” said Niki Karagkoule Karageorgou, CEO of Sky Express. “The real-time connectivity to agency and corporate subscribers to Sabre combined with capabilities for instant booking confirmation and ticket changes will drive our commercial transformation ahead”.
With this agreement, Sky Express joins more than 400 regional and global carriers that leverage Sabre technology to market and sell airfares and ancillaries. With 12 years of innovative and qualitative presence in the airline industry, Sky Express has operated over 70,000 all year round flights, and Sabre customers in Greece are now in a unique position to take advantage of this distribution agreement to increase their production and to address their customers’ needs for traveling within Greece.
